The Uzbek Justice Initiative (UJI) is a program, in partnership with Andijan Justice and Renewal, that promotes the flourishing of the Uzbek community in Phoenix, seeks justice in Uzbekistan, and facilitates opportunities for people to learn from this incredible Uzbek community.
It’s truly a privilege to know and walk with the Uzbeks in Phoenix. UJI is a community of people committed to supporting the Uzbeks as they start businesses, build community, seek to be reunited with their families, and create awareness of the injustices that they’ve faced.
Few people have heard of the suffering the Andijani Uzbeks have faced, but those who have heard their story have been deeply moved. We not only want to tell you the story, but we want you to be included in the next chapters of their story, the chapter where they flourish in every way as residents of Phoenix and where they peacefully stand against the injustices that have been committed.
5-14 Gatherings provide an opportunity to share a meal with Uzbek leaders and other survivors of the Andijan Massacre. You will taste delicious Uzbek food, enjoy conversations with a new Uzbek friend, learn about life in Uzbekistan, hear a firsthand account of the massacre, and meet inspiring people who are a gift to our city.
